My name is Adelaide Tamar Beirao. I am a 22-year-old woman from Kavango East, one of Namibia’s most fertile regions. I am a nurse by profession, but I also have a beautiful gift for baking, a skill I believe was blessed to me by the Almighty. I began baking at the age of seven, growing up in a home where cooking and baking were a passion shared by all. My mother, a talented chef, inspired me greatly, but I found myself especially drawn to baking. Every weekend, I would bake for my family, and by the age of 14, I had already started my own small baking business. I would often share cake crumbs with less fortunate children in my community, something that brought me great joy. When I was in Grade 8, my baking skills became even more recognized—my classmates and teachers were amazed by my creations, which I would bake during home economics classes at school. What makes me unique is my wholehearted commitment to anything I set my mind to. Coming from a large family—my parents have 23 grandchildren! —I had the opportunity to bake a birthday cake for almost every month of the year, helping to shape me into the passionate and skilled baker I am today. My love for baking and cooking has been a lifelong journey. I never limited myself when it came to learning and experimenting in the kitchen. My dream is to one day own my own bakery and use it not just to sell goods, but to support my community—especially helping those who struggle to afford daily essentials like bread.
